I will be relocating to the Guayaquil area in a month and will want to buy a new vehicle. How much room is there for negotiation of the price? I don't have a sense of the markups in Ecuador.

Hi. We have lived in Salinas for more than 7 years. During that time we have purchased 3 new vehicles, getting pricing from a variety of dealers in Guayaquil and from the Chevrolet dealership in Salinas. In my experience there is very little negotiation room in pricing. You might get a few hundred dollars knocked off or maybe a perk, like the dealer throwing in an upgraded sound system or paying the first year registration fee. Amy Lynne

but a used car holds it value better than anything in ecuador.. and can be resold for next to what you paid for it even after putting miles on it.. or just rent a vehicle on a long term basis.. because it could be very much worth your while if you can inspect and know what you are buying..
