This will be our first time visiting Ecuador. We plan to take a self guided motorcycle tour of the country at the end of May, returning to the US June 10. Neither of us know Spanish but are looking forward to seeing this beautiful country. I have been looking on line for an audio translator that translates English to Spanish and the Spanish response back to English but haven't had any luck.

Try duolingo.com. You have more than enough time to master some basic Spanish. Your investment of a little time and understanding will pay off bigggggtimmmme! Where do these people come from?

Remember on the motorcycle that stopping at stop signs outside of the big cities is not the norm. The locals just slow down....sometimes.
You will need all your defensive riding skills. Good luck!
I ride a 250cc street/dirt bike here in Vilcabamba and in Maine in the northern summer a 650cc Yamaha.

Sin's right, South American road signs are just a suggestion to local drivers.
My pet peeve: insufficiently-marked one-way streets.
In Quito, it's not unusual for me to find myself driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
