Hi, my name is Pauline and my husband, Matt, and I are moving to Sukuta around about Feb/Mar time. We bought some land earlier this year and have begun to build. We will be renting until the house is built so are looking around for somewhere decent, a 2 or 3 bed with a good size kitchen and well appointed bathroom. If anyone hears of anything it would be great if you would drop me a note so I could explore the possibility of renting it. I am 59 years and 24 months (I'll leave you to do the sums!) and Matt is the toyboy as he is only 42 years old. We have had some unkind things said to us and it used to upset me at first but I'm used to it now and it's like water off a ducks back.....we are happy and that's all we care about. We sponsor 5 children at a school in the north of Gambia and work with our Gambian "family" that have adopted us and help us through the immigration papers etc and Shabba, our dear friend of 5 years and our Gambian brother, is overseeing our house build. We trust him with our lives and he has helped us to get good prices for all our supplies so far. We have one cat called Lily who is moving with us, she loves the sun and likes to explore and bring us the odd mouse now and again. She loves everyone and will sit for ages for anyone who is prepared to smooth her and tell her how beautiful she is. We both love music, the outdoors, television (be interesting to see what we can get on satellite TV) and are easily content. Matt can chat for England and I get a word in now and again too. We are non judgemental people who like to go with the flow and see what is "around the corner" rather than plan our lives too rigidly. We are moving to The Gambia to escape the silly rules that the EU seem to readily enforce on our country and to find a happier, simple, safe way of life. The clincher for us was the fact that Muslim and Christians live side by side and allow each other to co-exist without animosity. More to follow when I get some time but I would love to hear your stories and experiences and any tips would be hugely appreciated, we are taking a leap of faith here! Pauline
