Moving to Malta

Hi all

I have posted in forums before so I am aware that I probably haven't give enough information and that I am probably approaching the move with a Naivety but please bare with me.

I have lived in Turkey, Benidorm, Marbella, Malta and Portugal over a 10 year period on and off, and my heart has always been abroad, after research I have decided that Malta ticks a lot of boxes as my Husband and I have a 2 year old son, and we love that Malta has good Schools, Hospitals and a low Crime Rate all these things are massively important because of having a child.

The thing I need help with is where would be best for us, when I lived in Malta it was a short amount of time and a lot of years ago now, compared to the other places. I lived in Sliema which if I am honest I wasn't keen on, but I was told by many people I met that their are loads of lovely places in Malta.

We are looking for somewhere with a good State School, an ideal place to bring up Children with an Expat Community, we would also like to be near the Sea as we live by the Sea in the UK and that is an important factor.

So hopefully we can get some ideas then start visiting Malta to help decide where we would like to finally settle.

Thank you in advance for your help

Have you looked at Birkirkara and Mosta? They're big enough to have jobs and entertainment and schools, without being big tourist magnets. And since they are inland, they are a little more protected from winter storms. They are also close to the university and on a lot of the bus routes.

Good luck,
Kate

If you are looking for a slower pace of life, a good social life, easy travel inc the best bus services in malta, then consider the island of Gozo. Crime here is virtually nil, particularly compared to Malta. I grew up here as a kid in the 70s and I can say that, apart from the significant increase in traffic overall (still much lower than malta) , it is as safe as it was for children now as it was then. Nothing is more than 15 mins away.
