Hi,
I've been to Lagos once before, and I'm about to go again for 3 months. Lagos has much affluence, It also has extreme poverty. I found the cost of living there to be very expensive, in spite of all the poverty.
I stayed in a gated guarded compound, I had no problems. I drank only bottled water, and did not get sick at all. I was there 2 months last time.
The people are so very friendly and courteous. They appreciate you noticing them and greeting them.
The traffic is off the chart. The roads are marginal to pothole avenues.
The weather is line the gulf coast in the southern USA. Warm and humid, year round.
So, it is what you make of it. I'm a travel addict, and I have some friends there that I enjoy visiting. I like meeting ordinary people and getting to know them.

After working in the States and Nigeria after that I bet you won't like it:) But if you take it as a chance to work a little to earn money and come back - it is quite fine. Make sure you live in a good district and make more contacts with expats;)
