Hello. I have just acquired a job in St Lucia flying helicopters and will be moving next month. I am coming over to St Lucia with an employer sponsored work permit. Does anyone know if it is possible for my fiancee to stay longer than 6 weeks as a tourist since I will be working there? My contract is for 18 months and if she is only allowed to stay for 6 weeks at a time this makes things incredibly difficult...
Any info, advice, etc is greatly appreciated!

Hi there. Are you from the US or a commonwealth country? If you are its pretty painless, but a bit of a drag. As you know you get 42 days on entry , you need to show you have a proper address with a long term rental agreement. you need a passport and say a driving licence with a pic. just before your 42 days runs out, you go into immigration in Castries and fill out a form . You must also take a return ticket, showing when your going to leave, They will issue you with a 3 month visa , costs $600ec. OR you go to Martinique for the day, fast ferry about $80us and get your passport stamped there. on your return, you get another 42 days here , so its easy to stay long term, we are doing the same

Hi Bobbyvee
Thanks for the info. I am coming from New Zealand and my fiancee is a Kiwi as well. Based on what you have said, is Martinique the better option? If she was to go to Castries immigration to fill out the form, will they frown upon a return ticket to NZ that is dated 18 months later?

Hi Its actually a tad cheaper having a day out to Martinique than all the problems in town. Im assuming your going to rent somewhere and open a bank account , if you are i can help you out , open doors so to spk and tell you what you need. When are you coming over? You'll love it here. Robert

Hi Robert
I'll certainly take you up on the offer! Cheers for that! I was only offered the position last week and the process has just begun-- so it sounds like mid-December for arrival
