I am at the start of the process, doing the research as advised in forums. The plan/dream is to retire soon, I am researching Belize, St. Lucia, Honduras, Panama, etc. My initial impression is Central Americas will all be similar to Costa Rica where I have vacationed and St. Lucia is a less developed version of the Caymans...(open to here if this is accurate) Belize and the QRP is a bonus, is there something similar in St. Lucia? Bobby, is there a quality resource online to research the St. Lucia income, property, sales, etc taxes?...Thanks in advance for any insights offered

We lived in Belize , been to Honduras, researched Panama in depth and my dive master wife has visited many of the Caribbean Islands. The Caymans are expensive. St Lucia is as developed as you could want, full medical facilities, grweat communications , wonderfull surrounding islands, on the edge of the hurricane belt, a Commonwealth country, so law and banking etc follow British standards and thus American to. Locals are the friendliest weve met, We are not 'gringos' here, no Spanish spoken. Great restaurants , superb housing to suit every pocket. We love it.

In reply to your financial ???'s I didnt believe QRP to be that good, you have to renew yearly, in St L ,once you buy property you can apply for residency, then you have a yrs window to bring in personal goods tax free. We are retired and pay no tax. check out www.bluereefrealestate.com for property sales and rentals, you will want to live north of Castries. All other stuff you can google and find on .gov. sites, things are changing and you know your needs and finances. We did a weeks recce , and feel in love with the place and its people

Thanks Bobby, I will continue with my due diligence with the resources you provided. I will continue to reach out as questions to come light. I have a vacation planned to St. Lucia at the end of May, and if it is alright with you, I may reachout via private message...

I agree with Bobby assessment of the Island and its people. My family and have just rented a home in Coubaril and we went through Blue Reef, just as Bobby suggested. Ask for Donelly if you call them to ask for help in that regard.....He was simply outstanding.
Not sure where you are coming from, but you're not like to find more friendly, out going, helpful people. We're from the southeastern US, known for its friendly people and we were blown away by how much people in SL go the extra mile to make sure you're helped in every way possible.
The cost of living is just slightly higher than the US......Food and gas being the difference. Food is close, but higher and I think gas is around seven per gal USD, but everything is very close, so there's not a lot of driving around.
The side roads are in dis-repair but the main roads are in pretty good shape. The temps are constant 76-85, but I'm told the summers are very humid and can feel like 95-100 at its peak.
Bobby is the best source for info and help, but if I can help you in anyway, let me know. We'll be there permanently beginning December 18th.
Joey
