Hello
We are arriving in a week to the Vieux Fort Terminal around 2pm.

What is the best option to get to Rodney Bay in the afternoon.
We will be carrying back packs so busses may be a crowded option.

If taxi, what would be a fair charge.

thanks in advance

Hi A taxi is your best bet, there is a standard charge of $80 usd , forget the bus idea. There are plenty of taxi's there . Its $80 for the taxi not each by the way.
Enjoy your vacation on this beautiful island.

Traveling also from Vieux Fort to Rodney Bay June 13, 2015. Staying at Bay Garden Resort. Would it be better to rent car at airport and drive as first time in SL or wait until Rodney Bay?

I think its worth the taxi ride, no stress and for $80 you can check out your surroundings. Route not well signed especially thro Castries. Remy at All st lucia 758 452 0777 whose office is in the Rex next to you does a nice range of cars I would ring prior and book one a Jimny is great 4x4 go anywhere. Sorry I wont be here to meet you Will be on my way to NY for a big celebration at the Marriott Marquis !!!

I agree with Bobby. Driving from the airport to the north side of the Island can make you feel like you are in a King Kong movie. You'll see what I mean when you are heading north. It can be a little daunting. Not to mention there are no driving laws here. People passing you left and right on curves, speeding, people literately standing in the middle of the road, lots of curves, mountains, places where the road is closed and tons of pot holes and places the entire road just fell in.

Once you are in the north, it is much more first rate and you will feel more safe driving a car. However, even in the north its kinda like driving bumper cars at an amusement park. The lanes are very fast and close together.

There is another option. If you have plenty of money, a helicopter will fly you to the airport in the north side of the island and you can rent a car there.

Just a thought.

Joey
