Hi All,

I posted months ago, I am starting the process of finding a possible retirement destination with all the usual suspects on the list. I am starting with my first visit to St. Lucia 5/23-5/30. Most of the 7 days I plan to thaw in the sun from a long cold Vermont winter, but I had also planned to rent a car and travel the island. If there are any expats that would like to meet for a cold beverage and share some insights, I would love to hear from you and make arrangements to do that. I have done my recon on trip advisor for places to check out, but any local knowledge on places to visit or things to do are also appreciated. Where on the island is a 50 year old, divorced, close to retired cop, going to be most welcomed :)

I will be staying at a time share in Gros Islet.

regards,

Lawrence

Hello Lawrence,

Blessings to you.

You'll be staying in the right location. Lots to do and see up north, near Rodney Bay and The Marina area.

There's good folk here, both locals and expats. So, I'm sure you'll make friends quickly.

Just look me up when you get here and we'll meet for a drink and share our experience thus far. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Joey and Maria

Hi. If your interested I have a # you can contact for car hire. If you hire for one WK. He will collect you from the airport and drive you to your destination free, a saving of $80usd and well worth it.
Let me know.

Bobby,

I will not need a car for the week, just one day. i planned on renting a car and driving myself. I will need transportation from the airport to the resort and back again. I remember from earlier posts you had someone that you recommended. I had planned on checking back through previous posts to get that contact, but if you have it handy, feel free to pass it on.

Thanks again for maintaining this site and passing along info. I visit frequently for updates.

Hi Joey,

Thank you for your reply. I will plan to message you when I get settled and arrange for a time/place to meet. Let me know if there is anything (legal :-), I can fit into a carry on from the states that you might be missing.

regards,

L

Hi. You can get a taxi at the airport, there,s a standard $80usd charge to Rodney bay area.
Thx for the offer of bringing stuff. But were flying to Tx in 5 days for 6 months. I'm sure Joey T will be around. He's Deputy Dawg in my absence LOL
Call Remy 758. 452 0777 for good car hire, he's based at the St Lucian hotel in Rodney bay, he'll bring the car to your place, he will also sell you a licence you need to drive the car, that lasts3 months.

It might be better to hire a taxi for the day, as they know how to get to all the places, no GPS and signs very limited, by the time you add hire ,insurance and licence its going to be an expensive one day rental. Just a thought.
