We're a young family from South Africa (though hubby's from the Congo), considering moving to Saint Lucia, after extensive reading decided against Belize thanks to Bobbyv's posts.
We were wondering what the laws are regarding homeschooling on the island? Havent found much information from our research.
Our daughter is still very young (3 in October) but we would have to really think hard before moving to an island that we couldnt homeshool on.
We're planning an exploratory trip for a couple of months, might still decide to hop over to Belize, but not so convinced anymore.
We'd be grateful to have any input. Thanks
Momi

Hello Momi,
All I can tell you is that we home school our three children and have no trouble. I don't think the government here cares one way or the other. There's no truancy agency at all here that I know of.
Please let me know if we can help you in any way,
Joey and Maria Thompson

That's great news, thank you all!
Bobbyveee you say for non-citizens, what about citizens? If the country does implement the citizenship by investment later on, it might be something we would consider.

I'm sorry, ive no idea, but im sure an answer can be found. Would you want to become a citizen ? Or maybe a resident. Im sure that home schooling is fine, you may have to show that you are infact carrying out a recognized programme, but im just guessing. There are some good schools on the island and I think , home schooling is fine, but your kids wont get to intergrate with the community. These are just thoughts and opinions, we will try and find out more from others

Thanks Bobby, I appreciate it. We wouldn't necessarily be going for citizenship, right now we're just weighing all of our options. In terms of integration, from what I've found online, there seems to be a nice mix of extra curricular activities that would help with that (music, dance, martial arts etc).

The yacht club is run by a well known teacher , the club is for young kids to learn to sail dingys and is a great way to meet other parents and the kids to meet others. Lots to do.
