Finding a job in St.lucia

I plan to move to St.Lucia from the UK by the end of the year with my 5 year old. My partner currently lives and works there, so we have an apartment and car already. My partners salary after outgoings would not be able to support all 3 of us so I will need to work. I will have enough savings to last maybe 9 months or so so i need to work as soon as I can. I spent a total of 6 months there over the past year so I know how much we can afford to live off. I was born here but am a St.Lucian national and have citizenship via descent and I already have an ni number. I have a few schools in mind for my daughter but need to contact them to check availability. I work as an early years educator but am open to anything. How hard is it to find work and is there anywhere I can look for jobs? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Nikki. As you are a citizen, you wont need a work permit. I would advertise in the main national news paper, lots of jobs advertised there, but unemployment is high. If your in the Rodney bay area you will have a better chance I think. Also contact the local schools, see if they have any openings for part time help. Good luck

thanks for reply

I was supposed to move down in the summer but something came up and has delayed me a few more months. my partner was able to get me an interview for a job in a school which I went to in june but as they needed me to start in sept and as I couldn't I had to turn it down :( ...my partner has a few contacts so will be seeing what he can do but I also want to look aswell. im open to any jobs really not just jobs which are similar to what I already do...with it being so hard to find a job in st.lucia I understand its best to be open to all kinds of available work. I will take your advice and hopefully I will find something suitable soon!
