Whats new on St. Lucia - moving to St. Lucia

Hi,

I have been for 7 month in St. Lucia in the year 2004 and since then dreamed of coming back. I know of course there is a lot of new buildings and all of that but I would be mostly interested in how is the economy doing on the island and how is the tourism right now. I have read about cruising tourists getting robbed and this kind of things is it really that bad with the crime and if your a local??

Loved to get some honest answers from you guys. :-)

St Lucia has one of the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean, weve never felt threatened in any way, the locals are delightful. There are places in Castries you know to avoid, but we never go there as theres no need. There is a good police presence in the north of the island, where most expats and tourist head. Just don't go drawing attention to yourself with lots of flashy jewelry and wads of cash, you wouldn't do it in major cities in America or Europe.
All the Caribbean is still suffering from the recession , but tourism is continuing to grow. We love the island and its people. Good luck
