Short term visit

Good evening.

I have been to St Lucia many times, it is very close to my heart and I love the island. I am looking at going back over early next year hopefully, maybe for 2-3 weeks, however I would like to rent an apartment/home rather than the hotel/resort holiday as I am considering a long term move over there. I understand this is more for ex-pats but reading the info you post I was really happy to post here and hope some of you could help me :) could any of you recommend somewhere to rent? I have browsed places such as Air BnB which is fabulous however I would prefer to ask for people's opinions and reviews also! I am young, adventurous and I love the beach and sea!

I am also looking to rent a car to get around the island, can anyone recommend rental companies, typical prices?

The best places to stay? I have always stayed north of the island, around choc bay/Gros I let so would prefer local to those areas!

Any info I would be so grateful for!

Thank you in advance.

Jessica

Hi Jessica.
Its good you already know the island. The main problem you face is there are very few short term rents, the ones that rent by the day/week are the luxury ones often running $1000/night !!! You are coming in the high season , most places were booked months ago. The expats here rent long term or buy. We rent privately through people who know and trust us. Something not possible for a 'newbie'. Try getting in touch with Won at www.bluereefrealestate.com. they are the best agents and based in Rodney bay. But be aware, people don't want cheap short term let's, rather leave it empty or charge big rents. I would look on trip advisor and see if any hotels in the Rodney bay area are doing deals.
I will send another message with a very good car hire company at a later date. Good luck

Hi. I bumped into Son in Rodney bay, all places are fully booked and like me he suggested trying a smaller local hotel. Let me know if and when you need a car and I will see what's available. Rentals are around $500 USD / WK plus a 3 month drivers licence about $25usd
