Hi! I am moving to Castries for 6 months for a job, and am wondering what kind of sports activities or similar are on that anyone has heard of? Am not too fussed about what kind of thing it is (netball, zumba, tennis, aerobics, walking, anything really), am just looking for something where its ok to turn up on your own and where I can meet people. I noticed a lot of the 'where to meet people' posts talk about bars in Rodney bay, but not sure I'd want to turn up there on my own without knowing anyone! Many thanks

Hi .I don't know any expats who live in Castries, most live in the north, that's where everything happens, Castries just isn't an expat place as you will discover, may I ask who you are working for. Good luck. Robert

Hi there,
Try www.facebook.com/MotionStudiosSLU or www.motionstudiosstlucia.com, offering dance fitness classes like Zumba in mornings and evenings, group or private.
Note: This is in the North however, not in Castries

Has pickleball been introduced to SL yet? Seriously looking at SL depending on the outcome of the USA elections. Love the lionfish ceviche at the Rainforest Hideaway.
Steve W. PS: How will one fair on $3,000/month with housing purchased free & clear?

Hi Steve. Not sure if it has, is it an American pastime ? You could introduce. Lots of people getting pickled from time to time. Lol. Yes , if your free and clear you should be fine. Are you going to buy a vehicle, it makes so much difference if you can. Where are you buying? Property is way inflated, start of offering half, There are a few good realtors on the island.

Pickleball started in WA state but is fast becoming a world wide sport., www.usapa.org. Click on places to play to see the countries. Just paint pickleball lines on a tennis court & you have a multi-functional playing surface. I call it tennis for the old, infirm & uncoordinated. ?? In surfing properties I found this one interesting. http://www.bluereefrealestate.com/node/2669?property_type=villasales Your thoughts on the area? A car is not out of the question. My choices are SL & Costa Rica. Still weighing options. & more than willing to bring pickleball to SL!

Hi Steve. I know. Don well at Blue reef. He's a good guy. They are very straight. . prices here are inflated, I would rent for 6 months, have a good look around and then make your decision . Its easy to buy here difficult to sell. Not a lot of tennis courts here, mainly in the exclusive gated communities. We love staying here. We are here till April, then back home to Fl. Robert.

OK, Lets just get one thing straight. The best sport on Island is Billiards (as in pool). Two questions to Steve. Do you play? AND more importantly, who do you like in the election?

Haven't played in years but can certainly take it up. Any Republican but Donald.

Pickleball can also be played indoors in basketball gyms. Schools are prime candidates. Just paint the lines.
