My wife and I currently reside and work in New York. We have been doing some research and looking into job opportunities in St. Lucia. In New York I been a as a Fitness Trainer for over 12 years and would love to continue my career there. I was hoping if anybody may be able to point us in the right direction or the appropriate individual. We have plans on re-locating to St. Lucia and will be visiting in the next month or so. So having a job to obtain visas would be the crucial for us. Any information that anybody can provide will be appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
Best Regards, yorddyv

Hello,
My husband and I are moving our family to St. Lucia from NYC next month!
We are self-employed and can run our company from anywhere, so employment isn't an issue for us.
However, as a matter of practice, we are very big networkers. I will keep my eye open for anything like what you guys could be part of.
Where on the island are you guys going to be visiting?

Thank You your response and offering to help us. But to my understanding we would need to get a job on island to obtain a visa. is this correct?

I contacted the immigration office and they said that US citizens don't need a visa to enter the country. At 6 weeks in you would need to visit the immigration office to receive a visa. We will have to pay EC$200/month after that (about $70) for each visa.

Hi Yorddyv. You dont need a visa to visit. Working is a whole different matter, you would need a work permit. . After 6 wks you have to have you passport stamped and its $200ec per person per 30 days. Very difficult for a non local/native. to find and get a job then a work permit.

Hi Yorddyv. Castries is not the place to be. You need to be north of there. There are quite a few fitness outlets, but as far as i know all run by locals. You cant take a locals job. You can start a biz. and do what you like, that takes money and time. Its not cheap living on St L but its a beautiful fun island , unless somone is willing to employ you and it will be for locals wages, im sorry to say you wont have much chance of a job /income

My husband and I own our own company so I don't really know much about the work permit situation. I haven't researched it.

Hi Yorddyv. You dont need a visa, they arent issued to Americans, Brits or Commonwealth subjects. Checkout www.bluereefrealestate.com Get intouch with Don, he's a good guy and the Co. very str8. Good luck. if you come long term, immigration wants an address and may ask how you are going to support yourselves, you will also need to have a return ticket.
