Young, single expat female moving with work permit

Hi, everyone. I've been browsing this forum extensively and it has been so helpful!

I'm a single 29 year old female from India. I've been offered a job with a big company in St Lucia (in advertising), and if the work permit comes through I'll be there by December or January. I have several questions, since I've never visited the Caribbean before, please bear with me!

1. What's a good salary package to expect in st lucia for a mid-management role in a big company? I've looked at the cost of living on some websites, and it seems that I might be able to live well and save too, but I'd prefer to hear it from you guys.

2. I think the office is in Gros Islet. I understand it would be best for me to stay in and around Rodney Bay area. What is the rent I should expect to pay for a furnished studio in the good expat areas? Will I be asked to pay up 6 months rent upfront? I don't need much except a kitchen and basic furniture and appliances. But safety and proximity to work is important, as well as proximity to super markets, places to socialise, etc. I will not be driving at all, so I'll be walking or taking local transport/cabs everywhere. I would live to live walkable distance from the beach so I can go running, but that's not a necessity of course.

3. What is the public transport system like? Connectivity, availability, safety, cost?

4. I'm perfectly comfortable to socialise with expats from other countries, but what are the chances I might find a fellow Indian (or Asian) in SLU? I've only read about Brit, Canadian, US and Irish expats so far.

5. I assume the company will help me with a lot of stuff (they have an agency that will provide accommodation for a month and help me find a place to live in after that as well). But is there anything else I should think of asa single girl before accepting the offer? Anything you would negotiate as an expat, to make life easier on the island? I'm terribly nervous and excited!
