Topic Title: Elementary schools in Ecuador

I've been a teacher here in Ecuador for most of the last decade. I also have children. I currently homeschool my girls but did have them in bilingual school for several years. Bilingual schools tend to be cheaper than international schools and run in price from $about $40 to $500. There are some excellent bilingual schools that teach subjects in English. I currently teach US History, Environmental Science and Writing, all in English. I'm glad I put my daughters in bilingual schools for a time as they are now totally bilingual. Here in Guayaquil, there are many English textbook stores that have a large variety of materials from preschool levels to University.

You may want to speak also with Amy Pinogoarte here in Salinas -- A former teacher herself she lives in Salinas with her husband and school aged children. I understand she just switched schools with them to an excellent school where another of my friends children attend -- it is Spanish/English bilingual.

Amy is in the real estate business and would be happy to help you with the information -- and can be reached at: [email protected], 04-2777177 or 08-963-1656 (outside Ecuador dial+5934-1777-177 or +5938-963-1656) Skype name spondylusecuador

Let her know you are calling about schools for your childrena and she'll pass along what she has experienced in the same boat.

Hello! I am trying to move there to teach in Quito and I am really wanting to talk to someone about it and was wondering if you could e-mail me? It's [email protected]. Hope to hear from you!

I'm an elementary school teacher in the U.S. with two kids of my own -- and am now in the process of looking into working at a school in Quito. Are there any teachers or parents in Quito now who would be willing to email with me privately to help me figure out which schools would be good places to work and for my kids? Thanks!

I am an American teacher in Quito and have worked at 4 different international schools here. Prices are going to vary depending on the school but I can tell you that Colegio Menor, Einstein, Cotopaxi, the international section of the American School, and the Alliance Academy are all going to charge you between $500 and $700 a month. (The price goes higher as the student gets older).
The British School, German School, and the French School are all a bit cheaper but not by much.
One thing to keep in mind is that some schools require uniforms and materials/books to be bought by parents. Some schools include all that in the monthly fee.
At any rate, the last time I checked, there was no school charging $20,000 per year for elementary to high school. That sounds like the price quoted for the San Francisco University. Most of these schools will range from $6000 to $8500 per year. I hope that helps.

Hi there
I think all the American schools are very expensive. There are some bilingual schools that are a little bit cheaper... you should have a look at the pages for the British school, Colegio Alberto Einstein, and Colegio Menor... I am sure there are others. My daughter is only 8 mos. old but I am looking at schools now too and 800 dollars a month is just outrageous so I plan on sending her to the French School or German school which are much cheaper and still very good schools.
