The 75 day rule is an Ecuadorean requirement. The Ecuadorean government with the rule was trying to curb the fraudulent marriages in order to obtain residency/ citizenship. Same thing with the requirement of having to go to either Guayaquil or Quito for the marriage license or acta You can have a ceremony performed anywhere.

Ecuador does recognize a citizen's marriage done outside of the country. Any citizen can register their marriage at a consulate as well as any children born outside of the country. However, Ecuador does not recognize divorce outside of the country. Ecuador requires that you divorce in their court if you marry in Ecuador or your marriage is recorded at a consulate. This process does require a lawyer and you either have to present yourself or someone you have empowered. Something to be considered.
