Hi, I am teaching in a great private school San Salvador. We have all grades here but we are 30 minutes from La Libertad. I can help you with school ideas for your children but you may have to drive each day to Santa Tecla. We can meet most evenings after I teach or on the weekends. I am looking forward to meeting you. Hey have you had any luck finding a school. We are moving back down to El Zonte again (it is near La Libertad) and trying to figure out what to do for schooling this year. How old are your kids? We have a 4 yr old and 6 yr old. My family would love to meet up with you. Are you living in La Libertad?

Thanks for the thanks. Best to contact Russwyrick, I speak fluent Spanish, am single, pay very low rent, have long sold my vehicle and use Cybercafes or a friends computer. I work in tourism throughout Central America, I volunteer and also teach E Commerce in English and Spanish, am retired. There are nice apartments for $300-$400 in middle class areas, unfurnished, look in the classified sections of Diario de Hoy y La Prensa Grafica. I assumed you were living in Puerto de La Libertad, La Libertad Department goes all the way up to Antiguo Cuscatlan, West of San Salvador (La UCA)
I'm Rentista, retires so best contact Russwyrick who has a family and struggling. saludos. buena suerte.

Hi,

I am teaching English at a bilingual Elementary Christian School in Colonia San Francisco. Tuition is only $70 per month and the teachers are great. It is a stretch to go but the school year begins in September. Contact me if you are interested.

Thanks very much for responses. Will email russwyrick as well. Unfortunately, because the kids don't speak Spanish, they need to be in a bilingual school. Ideally I would like them in a structured educational system, not just having someone coming to our house to teach cirriculum - don't really trust that avenue. I just wanted to comment though about Pato23 - when you said that outside of San Salvador a family could live on $1000.00 - not so in our case. Our rent is $600.00 - and that was after months of trying to find something affordable - hydro and internet and phone, insurance, car maintenance/gas, food etc - way over $1000.00. The cost of living in El Salvador is quite high actually. There is no way a family just wanting to live in a decent comfortable place could live on a grand a month - I'm sorry I haven't seen it amongst anyone I know and I have tried every corner to cut. Especially living on El Salvadoran wages - which are about 80% less in comparison for the same job in Canada - just can't do it. Anyway, thanks for the leads - will pursue those.

I know russwyrick, he is a very honest and honorable person. Do E mail him. If you don't speak any Spanish, or very little, there are people here in ES who will take you to the cleaners. Puerto de La Libertad is a small beach town, touristy with no bilingual private schools. The Bus 102 to from La libertad to Santa Tecla, with several small Christian bilingual academies, is about 45 minutes, longer morning rush hour. (all courses but English taught in Spanish) around $50-$70 month tuition, The British School (EScuela Brittanica) in Santa Tecla is very expensive, around $400 or so a month. A couple with children can live well on $1,000 a month outside of upscale suburbs of San Salvador. http://www.salvaspan.com/classes.html Spanish classes in La Libertad, contact them, cannot recommend them, however they have been around a long time. Visit us when in El Salvador. Good Luck.

PS when in La Libertad visit my American friend, Robert Rotherham and his son Lonnie, fluent English who own and operate Punta Roca Restaraunt and Hotel
Robert's son Jimmy, who manages surfing lodge grew up in the port and is El Salvador's surfing champion.

I work in receptive tourism, if I have time able to meet you for coffee in San Salvador. I can give you advice, however no guiding around "for free". El Salvador is a busy place.
We help non profit organizations in ES, E mail Russwyrick more info.

La Libertad does not have an English school that I can remember but there is many English speaking residence that will be glad to take your money to teach your kids. It should be very easy to find someone or form a small school in La Libertad. Santa Tecla has many small christian schools that teach both languages. My friends are paying $70 per month for their children in Colonia San Francisco at a private school. I am a English teacher that can help you get settled but my time is limited since I am teaching summer school right now. I live in Nejapa and commute to San Salvador. $600 is a great salary here but you should make more if you can start your own business. If you want more info contact me at [email protected]. Good luck - Viva El Salvador
