Topic Title: Schooling in Whitefield - Bangalore

Hi rony

I agree with you, TRIO WORLD SCHOOL's fees are lesser than above two schools and they provide same quality of education as any of them.
That's the reason i have chosen TRIO over them.
Communication shouldn't be a problem, as they bus facilities for Whitefield and shrajapur.

Dear folks,
In case you are moving into whitefield for good and not very particular about international schools then check this out.-The Deens Academy is the palce to be in.It is a CBSE school but what i felt in these past few months is that the quality they are providing is better than any other school in the vicinity. Its a very "child friendly curriculum and friendly environment"
They have included everything in the fee structure like uniforms, picnics and field trips, breakfast and even lunch for the senoir babies. And mind it the fee structure is quite affordable. As think as informed parents we need to make our choice and weigh our options before we go for the International tag.

TISB is the closest Expat school. They offer bus service from Palm Meadows in Whitefield. Which company will you be moving with?

One of our colleagues is opening a school next year in Hebbal and they will offer transportation from Hebbal as well. Our kids will be going there...their information is listed below:

The Mastery International School will open August 2007 for PreK-12th
Grades.

They will be offering PreK - 8 the Calvert Curriculum. More
information can be found at CalvertSchool.org. Crosswords bookstore
has an excellent book on their program titled "Dumbing down our Kids"
by Charles J. Sykes page 276!

9th - 12th graders will have choice between the Cambridge University
A-Levels Program & Advanced Placement International Diploma from
College Board (same group that administers the SAT examinations).

The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools.

One criteria for selection would be whether you want the kids to study with an internationally accepted degree such as IB or IGCSE, if so the schools to consider are TISB, Indus, Inventure (only mentioning schools in the Whitefield area). They tend to be a little more expensive compared to the non 'International' schools.

If you are moving for good, you may want to consider one of the other schools in the vicinity like Greenwood High, Ryan International, Deens Academy, Gopalan International, etc. They are/plan to be affiliated with Indian boards (CBSE/ICSE).

Slightly further away you could consider NPS, Vidya Shilp, IIS, Gears, etc.

Hello Pam / Priya,

Ryan International School is located at the following address:

Behind Hindustan Lever Ltd, Near AECS Layout, Kundanahalli,
M.H Colony, Marathahalli, Bangalore 560 037 Tel. : 080 2847 6963

They too, like Gopalan International, follow the ICSE curriculum. You may have to take a decision on which board you would like the child to study in; and there are several websites that are focused on Bangalore-based education. A couple of days back, Gopalan had come out with a full-page ad in the Times of India, so they are going after fresh admissions with gusto.

Priya, when you say "Service Providers"; what are the services that they provide? Are you part of one such?

Regards,
Sanjay.

Hello Pam,

Since you are going to be put up in the Whitefield area, and since your child is too young, it would be advisable to secure her admission in either one of the two schools - TISB or Indus. Both of them follow the IGCSE curriculum (which is different from the ICSE / CBSE / Karnataka board) for students up to Grade X. Later, if you have to relocate to some other country, the IGCSE, being world wide, would ensure continuity.

Which amongst the two is the better one? You could speak to the principal and faculty of the schools to form an opinion.

Gopalan International School (http://www.gopalanschool.com/), as you rightly pointed out, are up to Grade IV.

Hth,

Regards,
Sanjay.
