Betsy... My wife and I are living here frugally... we own our home, use public transportation, no excessive spending , no excessive habits, Buy food fresh at local markets, avoid Walmarts, Look for cultural events that arent costly, etc.,...on 1500 Dollars a month.
But just moving here and renting a place I would estimate that a couple could live comfortably for $2500 dollars a month.

Tourguide -- I sent your post to the writer and I believe she'll be including it in her piece. She has asked one last question -- How much would a couple need to live comfortably in Tlaxcala, Mexico per month?

Thanks!

Everyone has a different opinion... I live in Tlaxcala, it has the lowest crime rate in the Country. Because there are only about 1,000 expats here and thats the entire state and of that number only 6% are Europeans or Americans, This causes prices to be lower than places that are crowded with Foreigners. The weather is cold in December/Jan/Feb... but Ive never seen a freeze.
Plenty of Cultural events, Historical and Cultural sites. Its Tranquil but has good Medical facilities and economical transportation. Large cities within an hour or two hours away. (Mexico City and Puebla). Because its the smallest State in Mexico Highways and Communications are more easily maintained.
Check my blog at:

Or Google Tlaxcala to see whats there.
