Your timing is good! Panama is in the process of loosening up it's residency to allow for working.

What about working for a company in the US by internet,? Any restrictions on that? What about starting your own business based on the internet?

First off you will have to show a income per month, like a s/s/ check. since your not old enough to get that and your looking for work. it's not going to be easy. you can come here and live as a tourist leaving the country every 6 months to get a new stamp in your passport, but that's it. as a tourist your not allowed to work in this country.

now if you start a company you can hire others to work for you but you can't do the work yourself. if you can find a large company that would hire you then it's up to them to file the paperwork for you to have a work visa, but that's very hard to get... can you speak spanish if not even harder.

you can't ride on your folks visa either, your to old and must apply on your own.

I don't have much good news. Panama is protective of the job market. It is possible to get a job but it's a lenghty, tedious process at best.

Your best bet would be to find a US company that is hiring for work in Panama. It's a growing market for sure.
