Hi 802mark, I remembered another post that said you can't find good kitchen cutlery there. That was what I was referring to. Thank's, Dan

KNIVES? for what? cooking or killing? if it's cooking let your maid brign her own, if killing I know a place where they have all you would ever want..... no for real. bring only what you can't bear to leave behind. you can find most things already here. and save a lot of money on the duty and the shipping cost and the people you will have to hire to get whatever you want in this country, everyone has a brother with his hand out. shipping a bed? why we have them here just not worth it in the long run.

Thank-you 802Mark, that was the kind of response I was looking for. I have been to Panama once and see what they have to offer, but at the time I was being driven everywhere and wasn't able to roam. Nor did I envision this would be something I might consider. I have seen one of the posts of what to bring and it sounds like knives, but I am looking for the bigger picture. Again, thanks! Dan

Visit first to see what's available for local purchase. I would recomend only those few essentials you cannot part with. Also don't forget those old photo albums (or digitaly move them over to DVD), legal papaers, etc. Other than that, fill up a couple suitcases, sell everything including the family station wagon, buy 1st class tickets and leave.

I would pack one maybe two bags. that mean something to you all others sale it and buy new here.. it's not worth the money to ship things down here... take it from me, I shipped in two 40 ft shipping boxes, bought the boxes so I wouldn't be rushed for time. everything inside of them I could have bought here and paid a ton of money to ship all that crap.. whatever the shipper tells you add 5k to that and then maybe you will be close.. mines was to be 12k ended up 25k or so... if ihad my time to do over I would have showed up with a ribbon around my neck and nothing more...
