Denmark: American with EU fiancée in Denmark - Easiest place for us to live?:

As you indicated, any European union country would be preferred to Denmark. However, if distance from Denmark is important I understand that Sweden is a very good option!

Nicaragua: Nicaragua canal:

I agree with the posting above, I just wish I had a few billion dollars to spend on a real link between Mexico and United States and Canada! I'm thinking ultrafast light rail

Costa Rica: SS I in coaster Rica or anywhere else!:

This is in reference to a previous post about SS I benefits and leaving the country. SSI is for low income Social Security beneficiaries living inside the United States! If you leave the country for more than 30 days you are not, I repeat not entitled to these benefitsif you follow the advice of some on here, and keep an American bank account and an American address to defraud the government, when you are caught not only will you lose your SSI but your normal social security may be docked to repaint the difference. SSDI is for disabled personsand is not covered by the 30 day outside the country rule. It is a shame that some people on this forumhave nothing better to do then think of ways to scam the government and cheat people who actually deserve SSI benefits. Shame on you!!

Costa Rica: SSI IN CR? IS IT LEGAL?:

Hopefully this will clear things up, S and S I is for poor citizens or residents of the United States who may or may not be eligible for regular Social Security benefits. If you leave the country under any circumstances for more than 30 days, you are no longer eligible for these benefits. SS DI is the disability Social Security program,The 30 day exclusion does not apply to these benefits nor to regular social security. If you try to scam the system by keeping an American bank account and address, when you are found out they will dock your regular Social Security benefits for what ever overpayments you have illegally received! I suggest you do not attemptto try this because they will find out. And shame to those who have it vice keeping an American address or bank account to scam the system, SSI is not meant for people to live outside the country!

Nicaragua: Prescription drugs in Nicaragua:

I think you are missed stating the affect the affordable care act has on prescription drug prices, especially generics. If you aren't getting insurance through Medicare or through an employer based plan, the law will not affect your drug co-pays at all! How exactly do you think this would affect drug prices in Nicaragua? There is no connection between prices charged in United States and other countries

Nicaragua: Is blind and diabetic not good health:

I have posted here before about possibly moving to Nicaragua, in my research I have heard that part of the residency requirement is that one has to be in good health. I am legally blind and long-term diabetic, would that b considered not being in good health? I know certain countries i.e. New Zealand don't take kindly to sick people staying in their country

Thailand: 43-year-old blind American looking at Thailand:

I am a 43-year-old single American looking for a new place to call home. Am currently living on $1600 per month in Social Security disability and am being severely squeezed here in the states. I have heard about parts of Thailand where there are lots of Americans and about the low-cost rent and other necessities. I have been looking at central and south America but would also consider South East Asia as well. What a blind American be able to live in Thailand? I would want to hire someone to help me with shopping and occasional cooking and other errands. Would I even be able to get a visa? Especially on my income

Belize: 43-year-old blind American looking at Belize:

I am a single 43-year-old male living on approximately $1600 a month in Social Security disability. I have been looking at several possible relocation countries but have narrowed my search to either Nicaragua or Belize, I know about the 30 day travel card renewal for a year for residents getting around the $2000 per month requirement for the retirement program. I don't need a fancy place to live or anything like that and don't have expensive habits. Where would be a good place for me? Ideally I would like to hire somebody to live out to help me with things like shopping, cooking and getting to places like immigration office. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Denmark: HELP needed! Landlord accuses me and my girlfriend of damaging apartment floor and sent me an estimation of repair to email.:

A wild back, I thought about moving to Copen Hagan also bought while doing my research I came across many stories similar to yours. It seems Danish landlords are notorious for this type of thing and the only advice I can give is probably too late for you. When ever you plan on moving in to a Danish apartment, carefully inspect the apartment and make sure the lease mentions any problems before you sign the lease. If you don't do this, you very well may be on the hook for these so-called damages. I honestly think this is all part of just the general anti-Farner atmosphere in Denmark because I doubt this happens to natives nearly as much to foreigners!

Denmark: Blind American visiting Denmark in December:

I am a 43-year-old African-American male who is blind. Before I lost my vision I always wanted to travel to Denmark for Christmas and now is as good a time as any, how hard would it be for a blind person to navigate through Copenhagen during December probably around right before Christmas through New Year's? I am thinking it might be better to try to find someone to stay with as opposed to a hotel but I know being blind probably will make things like that more difficult, anyone have suggestions? I am really hoping to do this this yeari
