France: Looking to Move Next Year:

Get on facebook and join Americans in France page. Also join the AARO -- you can see their Facebook page to see what they're about. We have a place for sale in the pyrenees. If you're interested, you can message me. Best of luck.

France: New Arrival Next Year:

If you're on Facebook, join groups like: Americans in France and Survive France. People post answers right away. Depending on the region, there are other groups, for example we have English Speakers in the Midi-Pyrenees on FB here.

Italy: Connecting in Florence:

Hi. I'll be in Florence first week in October and wondering what's the best way to connect with English-speaking expats? Are there any Meet-Up groups or Facebook pages? Any places in Florence people tend to gather for happy hour, etc? Thanks so much.

Italy: How to have a US phone # while living in Italy:

Sonetel has really bad reviews online, but I'm sure someone can find a good VOIP provider if they are looking. I used Google Voice but then couldn't authenticate periodically on a US landline, so that's not an option for me. It might be for some of you.

France: Moving from California to Paris:

It's actually cheaper to bring a few boxes with you and pay the $25 each for extra baggage. You might get more response on Facenbook: Americans in France (closed group)

France: Best small,towns:

Hi. We are near St. Girons, which is adorable and in the Pyrenees. Very quiet, beautiful nature, lots of roads for bicycling with no traffic, lots of mountains for hiking. We are selling our home to get closer to Toulouse, but it's hard to do. So beautiful!

Croatia: Omis:

Hi. Any Americans/Brits in this area? We are seriously thinking of buying here. Would love to learn of activities in the area. Also wondering if the new IRS FATCA legislation is wreaking havoc with Americans there. Thanks so much.

France: Taxation in France:

Are you talking about income taxes? I'm sure others may have more to say. My husband is British and as long as he shows his taxes are paid in UK, France does not tax him. BTW, our house is for sale since we spend more time in the US (or can be rented while you house hunt). We are in the Ariege though.

France: Retirement to South France:

You shouldn't have any problem with your social security. As a French resident you will end up with French healthcare. You're all set!

France: Near St. Girons (near Toulouse):

We are living near St. Girons about an hour south of Toulouse. We are interested in keeping abreast of happenings in the region, especially with regard to swing/tango dance, and leisure hiking/biking. Thank you!
