Kuwait: Details on Life in Kuwait:

My husband and I live in Washington, DC, and have been offered jobs in Kuwait. We would like some objective information on living details from anyone who resides there now. Appreciate any help you can offer in helping us make the decision: - Housing: What is avg rents for a 2 bedroom in/around Saliymaya? We have been offered a housing package, but unsure if it is adequate. we are thinking of NOT shipping much furniture/appliances, but buying there. any ideas of costs to do this? I have heard apt.s' come without any appliances - true? - Language: Can you get around without knowing Arabic? Any good places to take classes? - People: I read conflicting info on the Kuwaity people - is it safe there for women? and do women have similiar freedom to exercise outside (bike ride, rollerblade, etc.)? - Are there any staples that you cannot get in Kuwait that we should think of brining? Books, personal hygiene products, etc.? and, I suppose we shouldn't bring any electrical item from the US? these are just some of the questions - again, any feedback is appreciated! thanks
