Ivory Coast: Awful location:

Having spent over a year here- I would like to let new comers know the true facts. Francophone Africa and particularly Ivory Coast is very different to any other part of Africa. If you are not a French speaker it is very difficult as they do not welcome and nor friendly towards non speakers. Housing is awful, maids and drivers can be troublesome and be careful when firing them make sure you get every salary slip signed- they take people to court with a whole lot of lies. Ill mannered whether they are educated or not and very arrogant- people .Please be prepared- from a person who is not newto Africa- this is a real eye opener.

Ivory Coast: Tired of hearing.....Vous parlez "Anglais -Francaise"!!:

Friends, I have been here for several months and am tired of hearing silly comments like "vous parlez Anglais-Francaise"! I am not from here and speak English- if I am making some effort to try and learn French what is the purpose of constantly hearing stupid comments! These are digs at one- cant they try and appreciate rather than expect that one is supposed to learn French instantly! i find they are very strange people with peculiar hangups- they are not French but Ivorions!....It isi no wonder that the Anglophone Africans make little effort to learn French!.....just my thoughts ........moreover the Ivorion French is hardly correct French!
