Malaysia: Moving to Malaysia after Christmas:
Hello,
Where you should live depends on if you have kids and what kind of lifestyle you are looking for. The non-negotiable is that you want to live somewhere with 24 hr security. There are tons of options. Check out the site iproperty.com.my for housing. Best thing is to find a couple places you like and make appointments to go see them. We saw a number of different places with 4-5 agents before we found an agent that understood what we were looking for. Oh, and the market is soft so you will definitely be able to negotiate the cost and any other requirements.
As for interim housing, I'd google serviced apartments or long stay hotels. We spent a month in one while we found a place and waited for our stuff to arrive. It made things more tolerable to have a small kitchen and a bit of space. We stayed in the Somerset but there are a number of options and because we paid for the month, it was cheaper than a hotel.
Good luck.
Malaysia: moving with pets:
Hi,
We moved a small, cabin suitable dog from Canada and I could not find an airline that would allow us to fly with him in the cabin so we used KLM cargo service which I've been told has the best reputation for handling pets. There is a pet hotel in Amsterdam (KLM's hub) that is to be one of the best in the world. It made our dog's trip much longer than mine coming from Western Canada but he made it safe and sound.
With that said, I have a friend that flew Turkish from Europe via Istanbul with their dog in the cabin so you might want to look into that.
Good luck.
Malaysia: Moving to malaysia from usa:
Hi there,
My husband and I just moved here a month ago and are going through that process now. First thing I'd do is decide what school you want them to go to then look at areas close by. But keep in mind your commute to work. Traffic can be really bad and you'll want make it as easy on everyone as possible.
You'll find there are a number of areas that will suit your needs. I'd suggest doing a search on property.com/my. If you find something you like, you can send a note to the agent who will respond to you and you can set up a viewing. It's not uncommon to work with more than one agent until you find one you really like. And if you find one you like, ask them to show you more that fit your needs, and they'll do the work to set it up.
Last thing, with your family you will definitely want to be in a gated guarded community- a good one will have a communal pool, maybe a playground and lots of other kids to play with.
