Italy: How to watch NCAA football in Italy:

Hello, all. We have tried and failed to find ways to access NCAA football games from where we live in San Gemini, Umbria, Italy. VPN services don't work. Sling TV carries ESPN & ESPN2 on which some games are available. But not CBS, ABC, or BTN. We're here for a least one year, probably longer, and we don't subscribe to a provider in the U.S. such as Comcast or Uverse. We do not have SKY TV, which I don't believe carries those U.S. networks ( CBS, ABC or BTN). Does anyone have knowledge of another way to gain access? And access that is not prohibitively expensive?

Italy: Cancer Treatment in Italy:

After many visa problems, my husband and I have been very happily living in San Gemini (TR) in Umbria since mid-July. We just learned through a total body scan that my husband has pretty extensive prostate cancer metastases. Has anyone been through cancer treatment(s) here in Italy to recommend good, English speaking oncologists, radiologists, facilities? Thanks!

Italy: U.S. Pension and Italian Taxes:

Here's a question related to paying Italian taxes and paying into the ASL. We just paid 7% of our last year's gross earnings to get healthcare through December. In January, we'll have to pay again. If we begin paying the (much) higher Italian taxes, will we still be required to pay the 7% amount since we won't be actual citizens, but only residents?

Global Expat Forum: Which Euro countries are best 4 US retirees to relocate & purchase healthcare?:

My husband and I are retired. He gets Medicare and Social Security, but I'm not old enough yet. However, I do have some health issues. Private healthcare has become too expensive for us, and we don't qualify for subsidies under Obamacare. We've travelled extensively in Europe and would love to relocate, but everything we read talks about the difficulties of obtaining residency visas in most European countries and qualifying for healthcare purchase. Could any expats living in Europe give some advice on this? We're most interested in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, but would consider other countries as well. Thank you!

Italy: Required income for retiring to Italy:

My husband and I met with the Honorary Consul last week in Atlanta to get the stamp needed to forward our Extended Stay Visa application to Miami. We just received our application packets back in the mail with a list of requirements we evidently hadn't met in our original application packets: 1. Documented income of "$3,500 per month PER PERSON originating from pensions, annuities, income from properties or investments funds and income from Stable economic and commercial activities." While my husband gets almost $4,100 per month in retirement income, I do not have income at all (too young for Social Security and no pension). We thought that couples, combined, did not have to show twice as much income. Here is the webpage from www.esteri.it showing that $3,500 per month PER PERSON should not be required (which others have posted here as well): http://www.esteri.it/mae/en/ministero/servizi/stranieri/ingressosoggiornoinitalia/mezzi_finanziari/tabella_mezzi_sussistenza.html 2. "A registered lease or deed for property in Italy for the entire period of stay in Italy." We showed a document signed by the Italian woman we are staying with including her Italian passport number, her date of birth, the address of the property, and her statement that we are personal friends of hers. We were going to decide on a permanent property once we were there and could locate what we wanted. Why is this signed statement not enough? Everything else -- two years of tax returns, a letter explaining the reasons for our intention to move to Italy, six months of statements from banks, financial institutions, U.S. Social Security institutes, and the last two years of our tax returns are no problem. It's only these other requirements that are troublesome. If you can provide any guidance, we would really appreciate it. We have tickets to leave for Italy on July 10, and are anxious to get this resolved. Thank you!
