Italy: obstacles to retiring in Italy:
Hi All,
I have been hearing that's it's very difficult to get the necessary visa/permission to retire in Italy (we don't have Italian blood). The Italian consulate wrote back to an inquiry of mine about the amount of income necessary to prove - $4000 per month per person. That would mean my husband and I would have to show an income of $8000 a month! This doesn't seem reasonable - is this really adhered to? We would both be retire age and with enough income but not nearly that much. Does anyone have advice?
Italy: Required income for retiring to Italy:
Hello,
Although my husband and I had hoped to retire to Italy in the future, I've just been made aware that in order to get the type of visa needed, we would have to have a combined income of $8,000 per month! This has effectively ended our dream. Does anyone know anything otherwise? What am I missing? Not many people have that kind of retirement income.

I just read "Extra Virgin: Among the Olive Groves of Liguria." I really enjoyed it.
Italy: does anyone know the company Views on Venice?:
Hi everyone,
I discovered this company through an online ad. They have short term apartment rentals in Venice. Their properties look very nice and the prices are almost too good to be true.
Does anyone know of this company? If it's legitimate, it's great. But I'm a bit nervous about an unknown rental company.

Italy: SOme advice for Americans who want to live in Italy:
Sounds like Sergios is describing the US! Stormeee, get thee out of Italy. It's all in one's priorities and values. Sounds like you're better suited elsewhere. "Civilized" is in the eye of the beholder. I don't find the greed mentality of the US very civilized, personally. Big businesses have ruined the US and sent the majority of Americans into near depression. And don't get me started on our health care system.
Italy: TESOL:
Does anyone know which TESOL certificate is preferred in Italy? Are there specific companies that are preferred? Thanks, Ellen
Italy: best festival:
Hi Friends!
What are some suggestions for festivals and events during the months of January and September - anywhere easily accessibly via train.
I'm hoping to be in Florence during those two months (hopefully) to hit the sales and September because it's such a great time of year there. EW.
