Uruguay: Retirement Questions- Please reply:
I just returned from Uruguay. Visited Montevideo 1.5 million people and stayed at the Hotel Tres Cruces for USD30/Night. I flew into B.A then flew on a connecting flight (I purchased this flight in Pesos to save money from United in Argentina) and arrived in Montevideo. Took bus #86 for USD1 and found my hotel nearby Tres Cruces Bus Station.
The pay rate for teachers in Montevideo is USD150/Month. Health Insurance is 1000 peso or USD40/month. Apartments range in price depending on the area...expect something from USD100 to $300, if you like the quality life then USD1500 is top of the scale. Local phones cost USD40, Electricity is USD30, Water is $10. Buses are 15-22 pesos or less than USD1. Travel to other cities are done on COT and COSPA, I spent USD5 to travel to Punta Del Este from the Station at Tres Cruces and USD5 to return.
