Colombia: Colombian Property Declaration:
She may be referring to the Colombian IVA tax on personal property.... you are allowed per person up to about 123000000 peso or about 60k once above this level you pay 3 percent tax on value. She may be declaring 50% so she and you will be below this value, but you need to declare also.
Colombia: Colombian Income Tax:
I know Colombia has a tax system and I have seen relies on other posts. My first direct question is retirement income considered taxable in Colombia. The people I know here who are retired do not pay tax on retirement income. However they are colombian citizens. Is that also applicable to expats. The second question is taxation levels. From what I can see there are 4 levels. Up to 29 million pesos per year 0 tax paid. Next level is 46 million pesos at 19 percent. The next two levels at 28 and 33 percent. Can anyone filing income tax verify.

Colombia: Wiring money to Colombia to buy a property:
If you are a legal resident. I would suggest you open a bank account. Also you will need to file with the back a form called Formulario 4. It is available as a pdf download. Fill it out and present to the bank. This form will allow you to bring money into Colombia and more importantly, take it blackout of Colombia without taxation, if you ever need to move the money back to another country. I would also suggest you get a good accountant. I will be living in Cali in the next few months. I have a great accountant who knows the in's and out's of taxes, property purchases etc. If you would like I can refer you to them. She also has a son in the import / export business who speaks english.
