I recently spent a week in Uruguay investigating buying property there with the ultimate goal of full-time residence. Those of you who are asking a varitety of questions might want to email Veronica Funch-Thomsen. Ms. Funch-Thomsen was born in Montevideo, went to an excellent English schhool there, and is back in the country after living for several years in the United States. She makes a living by helping English speaking people buy real estate, find rental aparments, or make travel arangements in Uruguay. There are fees for most of her services, but she is good about answering email questions at no charge. She got me an excellent hotel room in Punte del Este ($50/night) and introduced me to reliable realtors. She also spent a lot of time answering all of my questions. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Danish, and has a very good knowledge of French. She helps people find whatever they are looking for--e.g., notaries public, rentals, I.D. cards from the government in Montevideo, well-priced goods in Buenos Aires, honest reators, tourist attractions, hotels, restuarants, local color etc. She is honest, engaging, knowledgeable, committed.
