Portugal: Double Messages:

Anyone; know how to stop double & triple messages when we post??? It's clogging up my email box, and it's annoying :) Thank you!

Portugal: Mattress protection:

I was wondering for those who only visit for a few weeks during the year, what happens to the mattresses during the humidity & dampness? We want to buy mattresses but afraid of mold, is there a way to protect them or are there vinyl ones?? Appreciate responses....

Portugal: thoughts:

This is the thing: forget politics and what others think of America. Seriously, when one is serious about relocating to Portugal, then one researches & asks some questions on culture, climate, food..etc. Enjoy the peace it entails and stop worrying. I have a place in Azores, and still waiting in America for the time myself & husband to make the move(retirement), until then we will make the best of it, and do not care about what others think, Portuguese people are normal people trying to live a normal and happy life, of course I am Portuguese too, LOL. Please don't fret over petty things.....

Portugal: Housing Question:

We also want to inquire on that subject too, since we get a lot of humidity & dampness due to us not being at our home for most of the year. Have to find out when we go there again this summer, I know the feeling of many people not upgrading to keep their homes more comfortable. good luck to you too!

Portugal: Offensive Name:

Someone on here has an offensive name, used to mock this forum. How does one complain to have the person notified to either change his name or be removed completely?? In case no one knew, I'll give a hint who it is...Gold anyone???? Do not believe anything he says, look up what the 2nd half of name means........I will respond to anyone privately

Portugal: Colombo Gold on Pico island, Azores:

I could use some gold........LOL!!

Portugal: Buying A Car:

Of course, with money all things are pretty much possible (lol). We've bought a car with cash without being in Portgugal, our procurador (power of atty.) did it by withdrawing from our bank account, we also have a home there and no residency card, of course I am a native & spouse is not. I wish you luck which I'm sure you will have.

Portugal: Long term Portugal resident's comments to me:

Even though I immigrated to US when little from Azores , my husband who is American and I had decided to buy a vacation/retirement home in (Azores) after visiting a few times and loved it & want to live there upon retirement in a few years. The decision wasn't based on reading this forum, but appreciated the advice, opinions and thoughts on this forum, even though we already made the commitment. We do realize also it is a bit different in Portugal than the US so we are always learning their way of life, laws, the way they do things, There is no need to be so critical of others, if one is in disagreement just ignore unless it's a wrong statement, then PM to correct. If one is really interested in moving then one will have to visit and see for themselves and not rely solely on what others say, but use it as helpful tips. There are books also, like "CultureShock! Portugal: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette", it was very helpful to us. We still have much to learn, still living in US!!! :) cheers!

Portugal: SEF office experiance:

I think this SEF experience has gotten way out of hand. He said she said. Bottom line is whatever the SEF or Portuguese consulate says, but then again it can change according to whoever you talk to. B'elieve me, I am Portuguese and my husband is not, and we just recently bought a house in Azores. Unfortunately, you get mixed info from different sources. No one way is right. There is no sense in arguing, one's experience can be different from another. Please stop arguing back,& forth, just get the info from the real sources!!!! Thank you.

Portugal: Too many messages:

With all due respect, my email box has become clogged with too many messages from the same posting. I would think respectively, that if one needs more answers to an issue, maybe private messaging would be appropriate. I do apologize if I offend anyone. Otherwise, I guess I will have to unsubscribe, it's overwhelming. Thank you.
