Draks -I wonder if the drug problem is less in countries that do have the death penalty or is it just as bad?
Philippines: NY Times nice article about the Phils:
EuroBob - I too think due process is a good thing and should be happening. The problem is that unfortunately the Philippines is a 3rd world country where that kind of thing is a luxury and has little or no meaning. From the little I see the Phil government basically does what it wants one way or the other. Need I mention corruption? I would think this type of thing happening in the Phil is standard practice in too many 3rd world locations. Even the U.S. is quite callous with their bombing of so many countries needlessly causing even more innocent deaths. Where is the "due process" in those cases? I think the expectations for the Phil are well intentded but unrealistic for such an under developed nation. Wishful thinking is what I call it. But one can only hope all this needless killing magically stops throughout the world..

gelynch52ph - I wouldn't count on them getting there crap together. I would assume that all you complained about would be a partial definition and reason why they are a 3rd world country. I don't think the country will adjust to you. Unfortunately I think you'll have to or take their friendly advice.
Philippines: Wealth Management for Expats:
Yep your standard corrupt 3rd world country............

YES, I AGREE PEACEMAKER. LEAVE IT AT HOME. WE ALL HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE NEW AND BETTER LIVES HERE IN THE PHIL. LET'S TREAT EVERYBODY AS INDIVIDUALS AS HARD AS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE. TRY AND LET GO OF THE PAST. NOT EASY BUT IS POSSIBLE!

Philippines: taxi terminal 3 to US EMBASSY:
HELLO! I'm arriving at terminal 3 Manila Airport from Davao. I'm hoping somebody can give me a ballpark figure on taxi fare to the US Embassy on Roxas Blvd at 1pm on a Thursday. I'm actually going to a hotel on Mabini St close by the embassy so it should give me a good idea. THANK-YOU !
