Ecuador Welcome Forum: New FBAR deadline:
Thanks for the website, it was very helpful. Plus there if info on an extension.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Visit:
HoJo's located on Zoilo Rodriquez with Calles Atenas and Paris and Clodoveo Carrion (weird intersection) It is just a stones throw from our apt in barrion Atamer. Very nice facility, a bit expensive for my budget, with pool(not heated) and jacuzzi. Incredible breakfast buffet along with made to order omelets. Fair number of bilingual staff, always bilingual at the front desk.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: 3 weeks in Ecuador:
Like sinego I'm in the sierra in Loja so no authority on the coast. However, we enjoyed Puerto Lopez with a trip out to Isla de Plata (Poor man's Galapagos with bilingual guide). This is also surrounded by a national forest with hiking and trail rides. Not many gringos but enough folks speak some English so it shouldn't be a problem. Remember insect repellent for the coastal areas.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Calling all (any?) Guayaquil Gringo/as.....:
Never fear. Check out https://www.internations.org I know there is a group in Guayaquil.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Professional Visa:
Consult with an immigration lawyer. We used Joseph Guznay in Quito and were were very pleased with his services. PM if you would like his contact info.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Ecuador and Cuenca in particular:
Hope you enjoy your visit to Ecuador. If you can't do the Galapagos on this trip, you might consider going to Puerto Lopez and take a day tour to Isla de Plata, otherwise known as the poor man's Galapagos. We did that about 6 mo ago and enjoyed it thoroughly, We did have the added benefit that is was whale watching season. You do get to see a fair amount of at least birdlife there and our tour did a snorkeling stop as well.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Criminal Background Checks:
Hi Charlie,
1 1/2 yr ago when we got our visa, it was the local criminal check, not the state. We got ours from the county we lived in and of course the FBI. Good luck with your doc preparation.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: E-mail's:
We've been here a year and a half. This thing with emails remains a mystery to me too. So take heart, you're not alone.
