Vietnam: Long stay visa for Vietnam:

did you get to Vietnam, I am living in Pattaya but not into the military thing. Have you found out how to stay there long term? Would appreciate what you have found out.

Philippines: Retirement in PI:

Read your post and I am in a similar position. I am in Pattaya on Non O and will convert to Retirement Visa in a few months. But as soon as possible, I will shift to Phils. My gf is Filipino and teaches in Thailand. If you google retirement in Philippines the visa details are readily available. It is a little more expensive dependent upon which type you choose, but they are certainly more friendly than Thai obligations.Also you have the advantage of English being widely spoken. If you have not been to Phils before, make sure you do a few trips first to see if you like it and see where best suits you.

Australia: Any one know good areas to live in-Gold Coast?:

Ernest I think is out from the beaches, western Gold Coast areas. Plenty of private schools or public schools, shopping centres etc. A lovely place to live but very expensive, be warned.
