Panama: Shipping Household Goods Exclusions?:

I brought glass goods, pitchers, etc. I wrapped them myself in old towels, sheets, whatever, and packed them in the shippers boxes to travel by container. Nothing was broken. tightly wrapped things and go in drawers. (no one sees them. Ahem, ahem.) just sayin'.

Panama: Books?:

We have library cards from a U.S. library. With those we go to the library site on line and check out books on Kindle. No fee. Thousands of books available all the time. No need to purchase books and the Kindle travels smaller than a book. We are never without a book that way.

Panama: Who I am:

If you still have the sailboat or are looking for a place near water ( sailors usually do . . .) you might check out the Pedasi area in Los Santos Province. Then further down the road there are sailboats in the Playa Venao area. Crime is low, area is beautiful, not crowded, Lots of expats as it is a developing area.

Panama: Inspection practices of customs:

Good garlic presses and lime squeezers available at Discovery Center. U.S. quality. Some things just aren't worth being without.

Panama: LOOKING FOR STATUES:

I understand there is a man who lives "in Frontera at the border with Costa Rica" who passes through Boquete ocasionally selling statues. I would like to contact him but my source says he comes randomly and they have no further information. Does anyone know of him? Boquete Garden Inn has one but they have no further information.

Panama: Where to start:

We recommend the Buena Vida language school in Pedasi. This little town is unique, pretty and friendly and beaches abound. We have @ 5 we visit regularly. Google Buena Vida and Ingrid will give you more info. We LOVE it here in the Azuero.

Panama: coming to Panama-suggestions please:

Dra. Corro, dentist, speaks great english, and has a good practice in Chitre on the way to Pedasi in the Azuero. The Azuero has @ 40 beaches - plenty to choose from - and the living is bucolic. We have used Dra. Corro and are quite happy with her.

Panama: Is the Panama City tap water potable?:

We live in Limon de Pedasi and the tap water is NOT potable. The locals are okay with it but expats need to use bottled water or a filter. Would be interested in your product/system.

Panama: Looking to retire in Pedasi, Panama:

We live in Limon (de Pedasi). The beaches are wonderful. We attend classes in Spanish three mornings a week at the Buena Vida Language School. We find both the ambiance and friendliness of the local community refreshing. The expat community is growing rapidly, the 'natives' are friendly, prices are not as outragrous as posted, and the living is laid back. We love it here. We felt that after living overseas we could bring our own "projects" ie: hobbies, with us, therefor we do not need the 'entertainment factor' of the U.S. We grow our own veggies, entertain ourselves, interface with other expats and the locals regularly. We find it to be a friendly and inviting area. The beaches are fantastic. The scenery towards Plays Venao,is breathtaking. We are building a home in Canas with a reputable local contractor and have had very positive experiences with both the contractor, the architect and the local workers, the local population and local officials. We read here that is it best to visit before you decide to make a move of this magnitude. We did. And have not regretted our decision to be here. We are self-sufficient, do not require entertainment, and are happy to live in paradise. Despite the naysayers.

Panama: BRINGING SEEDS FROM THE U.S.:

I understand that Customs in Panama does not want foreign problems in the way of renegade vegetable and flower seeds from outside the country. HOWEVER, Why do they destroy (incinerate, I am told) seeds in factory sealed packages from reputable seed companies?
