Argentina: cellular spamming?:

Hi Mike! I had some problems with movistar. They would send a lot unsolicited promotional text messages until I called and opted out. Never received any other text from them or any other third-party for that matter. Hope this helps! Take care, Gonzalo

Argentina: Meet Friendly Locals in Buenos Aires:

We are a group of people who practice English every Friday at a coffee shop in Buenos Aires. It's an easy going and informal meeting, free, just for fun. We have been meeting every Friday for over 6 years to practice our English. All are at a level that enables us to speak English fluently, which is a requirement to participate. We like to chat about ordinary things but traveling is our favorite subject. Every Friday, foreign travelers who are on holidays in Buenos Aires and are interested in meeting "porteños" visit us. This kind of exchange and sharing of cultures and points of view means learning and developing for all of us. Tourists, backpackers, expats are all welcomed. If you are in Buenos Aires learning or practicing your Spanish, you can join us for dinner afterwards. At dinnertime we are free to use any language we choose. If you are interested in participating email us for further details at: grupo_de_ingles@hotmail.com www.theenglishgroup.com.ar And now The English Group of Buenos Aires has its online version on facebook. Argentina: TALKTIME:

TALKTIME is a multilingual offspring of the "cafe philosophiques" that started in Paris in 1992. By holding public debates over thought-provoking topics TALKTIME promotes effective communication in foreign languages in the hope of contributing to the integration of Argentina in a globalized world. During their debates talktimers try to create an atmosphere of interest and expectation and offer the opportunity to talk in eight different languages. While participating in a positive environment talktimers refine communication skills in non native tongues. Along the way, by becoming facilitators, they learn leadership skills. Talktimers meet regularly in different cafes and restaurants (more than a hundred debates per week) to improve the arts of listening, sharing and delivering in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Esperanto and Spanish for foreigners. Talktimes are free of charge. Please check the site www.talktime.com.ar and turn up at the next meeting.
