Excuse me, but have to ask. What is F&S?

Uruguay: lavadora:

Can anyone make a brand recommendation for a sturdy washing machine? The Westinghouse that came with house I bought has finally given it up after 5 years of constant use! Your input is most appreciated.

Uruguay: cant get the chacra's padron number:

I can give you an illustration. I live in Maldonado department and here is a link to their website that has a map of the padrones. http://www.maldonado.gub.uy/gestion/ On the webpage is a box that states "Sistema de informacion geografica". If you click that box it takes you to a map of the padrones with the corresponding number. You have to figure out where your particular padron is, of course. Can't say if the department in question has a similar webpage construction. Hope this is somewhat enlightening!

Uruguay: Phillip Morris:

Here's a link that explains the issue fairly well: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/big-tobacco-puts-countries-on-trial-as-concerns-over-ttip-deals-mount-9807478.html

Uruguay: 220 Volt tankless water heater:

I have had good experience with James electric water heaters. Make sure to get the copper tank. When I had a hot tub, it was necessary for me to increase the "potencia contrada" to 9.2 (not sure what that signifies) and I think I had something like a 6 rating before. If your contract with UTE is in your name, you can go to UTE and have that done fairly easily.

Uruguay: SSA and loss of benefits:

Please forgive me. This is a question that obviously pertains to USA citizens. To carry on................ I received notice that my SSA benefits have been suspended. (FYI, I have received the benefits for about 2 years) OK, I say to myself herein lies an other of life's adventure........ I called SSA and was told that I hadn't responded to a letter they sent. Stuff like that happens, that is the letter never arrive here, but, for what it is worth, I have received other letters from the same SSA. Anyways I asked what were my alternatives and I was told to complete and return the form ssa 7161. OK, simple enough, so I thought. Upon closer inspection of said form ssa 7161; it is about receiving benefits for children or incapable adults!!!!!! Totally not my scenario! Never married and definitely no kids!!! No offense to anyone, por favor! I will call SSA again and see what transpires. So, I am asking, have any of you had this kind of experience?

Uruguay: Uruguay made the top ten!:

Mostly it applies if you are keeping all of your millions somewhere in Uruguay? Argentina eviscerated Uruguay's banking regulations, so your point is very much moot. However, the rich keep.................................

Uruguay: supplements:

This is true. You cannot bring in vitamins, or any kind of supplements without the permission of the Uruguay gov't. And good luck with that!

Uruguay: can i order from ebay, ali epxress to Uruguay?:

I ordered a filter from Amazon.com and was surprised that they offered to send it directly to Uruguay for me. I decided to take the risk and had them send it. The total, with the shipping and all, was a few dollars over $80usd. About 2 weeks later I received a call from someone (I believed to be) from Uruguayan customs. He asked for a copy of my carnet (I have legal residency), a copy of the credit card I used, and a copy of the Amazon receipt. He also asked if I wanted to pay the import taxes or use one of my duty-free options. I sent the info he requested and of course, opted for the duty-free. A couple of days after that the filter was delivered to my door. It was a very easy and efficient! A few years earlier I attempted to have things sent to me by family and/or friends from the USA and it was painful! I actually elected to just have the items returned. So, the experience with Amazon was most pleasant! I will see how it goes the next time I order something................ Hope this anecdote is of some benefit.
