Switzerland: swiss retirement:

I would like to retire to Switzerland in the near future for 6 months out of the year. Have spent time there on vacation and think the nation is beautiful. Actually, we prefer living somewhat rural and our kids are grown. Does the govt. have any minimum income requirements ? How long a stay would we be good for ? Best canton for less taxes or would we be liable for taxes as P/T residents, etc ? Ah, help me !!

Lithuania: If Lithuanian wants to grow and prosper:

Rik, I 'hear' what you are saying, but, I don't agree with your posting. I have lived in a few countries. I will say you have not. Logic will dictate that in order to make friends ( anywhere ) you will shoe in easier by SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE !! Anyone who wants to GROW and PROSPER in a new country needs to do exactly that. I've been there. It is clearly understood, to me.

Lithuania: Becoming a Lith. citizen:

Can anyone post all the steps needed to become a Lithuanian Citizen ? I know there is a language test that is also 'part of the package.' Also is there a sample test obtainable through the embassy ?

Switzerland: Switzerland retirement ?:

With the 'shuffling' of some assets, there is a distinct possibility that we can retire to Switzerland. A home outside of a city would be nice. Options are open in that regard. Best Canton ? Gun laws for U.S. expats ? Vacationed the country and am thoroughly impressed. A realtor I can email ?

Lithuania: Learning the language:

Good old amazon.com has a variety of them available for not too much $$$. Check the purchasers ratings on them as well. THe rest is practical application.

Switzerland: How long?:

I can tell you that it is quite expensive. A HOME can cost as much as $400 a sq. ft. and more ( depending on location ).

Lithuania: Lithuanian Citizenship claims:

From what I 'hear', you might have to $$$ to the 'right' people in certain places. Just sayin' ........

Norway: Should i go or should i stay??:

Start fresh. I sure would.

Lithuania: Lack of activity on this forum:

I "hear" what you are saying. You have to realize that what you have stated is true about people being 'visitors' to ANY foreign nation. One is ALWAYS more well received when they are TRYING to speak that areas language. It is 'that way' the world over. Stop and think: it might be YOU that is the reason for the cool reception. Like rikmo says, "just sayin" .........

Lithuania: Buying a home at the Baltic coast:

I am thinking of buying a HOME in Palanga or Klaipeda for retirement. Can anyone give me a good realtor with an English / USA website with listings ? Labai aciu.
