Fiji: getting ripped off by mechanics in Nadi:

Hi I have tried 2 mechanics to get some body and engine work done on a few cars the first 1 got a $1000 down payment and didn't get the work done. The next mechanic has been steeling parts off my car, I know what parts are gone but unfortunately I Can't prove it. My materials have been used on other peoples vehicles also. both mechanics are indians. It has given me a real bad impression of them. I have dealt with fiji indian mechanics and furniture makers in auckland and they were fine. Is it a fair statment to say "BE VERY WARY OF TRUSTING INDIANS IN FIJI" or is that a bit harsh?

Fiji: Tree pruning and maintenance business???:

Bula everyone, Have moved to Fiji in November 2014, I'm looking for any advice in starting a tree maintenance business, I'm a trained tree climber and am capable of removing dangerous branches over buildings safely without damage. Along with palm pruning and all tree removal even in confined spaces generally without a crane. I'm wondering if anyone could advise on wether this would be a viable business in Fiji? Cheers

Fiji: Please help! Moving to Fiji from Australia h:

Hi there, The selection of food items here is limited, as the local is a lot different however there is a good supermarket by the roundabout near the airport called "new world" which stocks a lot of international foods at an increased price. We have a friend who comes often and he brings things like vegemite. We also get family to send us over chocolate from NZ because it is so expensive here. you can find mixed herbs and other spices nit exactly associated with curries and the like, at the new world supermarket. I recommend joing the nadi sports and social club it if $360 per year per family of $200 a yr per individual. so even if you don't have kids family deal is still better on the pocket. it's a great way to meet other expats and locals as well as a good gym 25mtr lap pool, tennis and squash courts a restaurant and very reasonable bar fully refurbished. Happy travels!!!
