Thailand: im 22 and need advice on moving to pattaya:

I moved to Thailand when I was 24, I am 26 now and still making it happen. Pattaya would not be my choice, but hey "up to you" is a phrase you'll hear a lot in this country. Advice...bro... Number one, save up a bunch of cash and put in a bank account that can transfer money easily to your thai account. If it's possible, set up something, anything that will provide an income from your home and give you some living expenses every month. If you are looking into starting a business, it's a great idea to just hang out and keep an open mind for at least one year before jumping into any business opportunities. Jobs that pay well are hard to come by out here. Teaching english and diving are the top 2 expat careers out here and both are going to give you just enough to live on, generally speaking. Be very careful with the Thai girls. You most likely will never really understand their ways and the vast majority of them are pros...manipulative, scheming, sexy, seductive, and potentially dangerous. You may already know this, but if not, you will soon see. Buying property, again take your time and remember that foreigners can never really own the land, only the building, and then lease the land. Get a good lawyer to guide you through the process and don't put it in some chick's name...bad idea dude. Condos, on the other hand, you can own outright and that will probably be your best bet in pattaya. Good luck dude.

Kuwait: 24 years old, offered a job in Kuwait...:

I'm 24 years old, single with no kids, no bills at all, and I just completed 3 years in the US Army. I applied for a security position in Kuwait and I've been offered the job. My family is worried that it is dangerous over there, but from what I have read and experienced in the few weeks I have been in Kuwait, any major US city is possibly more dangerous than Kuwait. Housing, medical, dental, and transportation is all provided for free, the salary is approx. $65k, but I also have income coming in from other sources. So, I should stand to clear about $80k tax free. I'm pretty excited, being that I am 24, have a rather small amount of formal education. Having no children or spouse, this seems like a fantastic deal for me. If I end up disliking the job, I can always leave, unlike the Army. So that is my situation, here are some of my concerns: I know alcohol is outlawed, which is fine, I rarely drink, but it seems that I will be limited in my search for eligible female companionship. There is always the Army post, but I'm kind of jaded when it comes to Army girls. Is there a lot of hostility towards Americans there? I know it's not like Iraq, but my family is concerned about my safety over there. How much would a maid cost, to cook some meals and clean the place up eod? Scuba diving...is it pretty decent out there? I love scuba diving. Are there any other sites out there that are a network for expats living in Kuwait? Can Italian sports cars be bought for prices comparable to that of the USA? I know, a lot of questions...thanks in advance for any reply that might help me out. I'm really looking forward to this job, I think it will be ok. If anyone has any insight, I'd love to hear it. ' Mike
