Australia: Any one know good areas to live in-Gold Coast?:
Hi all
We have taken the plunge and have decided to move to Oz. My partner has just been offered a job based in Ernest, Gold Coast and I need to start looking for areas to live in near to his work.
We have a 5 year old boy and a 16 week old girl so good schools are important also.
Can't believe its happening, not looking forwards to leaving my mum and family, hey ho, its all for the better, I hope!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks xx :o)
United Kingdom: Move the UK. Let's go for it!:
Hi
I live in Old Windsor, 3 miles from Windsor castle, 25 miniutes drive from Chiswick and 40 miniutes to London. We have a central train line in to London, Waterloo etc and we are a 5 min walk from Windsor Great Park so its great for the dogs. Its country living but so close to the city.
Other areas, Windsor, Ascot, Sunningdale, Chiswick, NOT Slough.
Good luck.
Australia: Help!-thinking of moving to Brisbane:
To anyone who is reading this, I am Sonia-29, Simon-31,George-5 and Freya-12 weeks old.
We have decided to move to Brisbane, my husband is a Prototype Precision Engineer (Tool maker) and we are just starting to look around for a company to help us get our Visa - any recommendations?
We will also need to find accommodation, does any one have any recommendations on nice areas near to the beach?
I would also appreciate any advice from any one about leaving your family behind and what you think of your move to OZ!
Thank you in advance.

Australia: Moving w/ kids! Dealing w/ Grandparents!:
Hi there
We are currently experiencing the same problems. We are also feeling challenged but confident about moving to Oz,(I like that saying), both my partner and I are from the UK so we are leaving all of the grandparents behind. We have two great grans and one great grandad, grandad is fantastic....great granny's forget it....they are both mortified and can't believe we want to move to Oz to better our lives...I mean why on earth would we want to do that!!!
My mum will miss us and the children but is happy for us, my dad won't even say the word 'Oz' and my mother-in-law, well thats a different story. You see I'm taking her son and grandchildren away from her..blah blah blah!
Anyway, I am looking forwards and can't wait cause its all about me, my husband, our 5 year old and 12 week old and all of our new adventures.
The way I see it is that the grandparents are mad through sadness and when they hear and see how happy you are they will gradually come to terms with it, if they don't then they lose out. So enjoy what is ahead and good luck with your new life.
Take care and be happy. :o)
