Finland: Deader than a doornail:
This forum is too quiet. All the ex-pats living in Finland must be really happy with their lives or stuck in Finnish language school 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Finland: Traffic fines, driving laws:
Finland is a signatory of the Geneva Convention, so the driving laws are base on the international standard. The Taima Sign (city limit sign) is often posted instead of the speed limit. The Taima speed is 50 kph.
If you google, you will find lots of information about driving in Finland. You can also contact Traffi or your local driving school for a brochure.
Finland: Please help me Finnish people :):
I can help you. Where are you located and what is the topic of your survey?
Finland: Can kids attend school?:
So, do you still have this question? There are very few schools who teach in Engish - a couple private schools in Helsinki and Tampere. If you don't enroll your kids in a private school, then they will have to go to public school and they will have to learn Finnish. You can't live in Finland on a Visa unless it is a student visa or a work permit. You apply through the Finnish consulate in the country where you reside. Very few visas are granted unless you have a job offer, are a student, or married to a Finn.
