Philippines: Most Dependable Bank:
HSBC Bank. They have that here in the US and several locations in Manila. I withdraw and deposit my money with no charge, My advice stick with the Big International Banks.
Philippines: Good place to rent in Tagaytay:
Have you tried to looking at Airbnb.com ? I rented a condo unit once via Airbnb.com in Makati by the Greenbelt area and it was fantastic.
Philippines: Which is better to visit Coron, El Nido, or Puerto Princesa?:
Sorry mate, this will be our first time vacationing Palawan, not sure which is better. Staying maybe 4-5 days. Please advice best place to stay and what to do. Thanks so much!
Philippines: BRITISH VISA:
Something is fishy here... Just be discrete with her and tell her that she needs to be honest, UK immigration no matter what, sooner or later will find out if she is lying or not and will null and void your petition or marriage, if found she made false statement/claims, worst jailed for adultery Phil. Maybe you can go the city hall the town where she's from or the civil registry and find out, if you are scared to go there, try to hire a private investigator and maybe they will look for you. Good luck mate.
Philippines: Beware of this:
You nailed it mate. In crowded areas, watch your pockets. Don't be a show off wearing jewelries, nice watches and nice sneakers if your in the streets, you don't want to be a target. I just wear a t shirt and my flip-flops all the time. Taxi's are the hardest part for me to deal with. There is always some sort of scheme. Non-metered, fixed price etc.. At night I usually use grab a taxi or uber.. heck more expensive but hey I'm much more comfortable with it.
Philippines: moving to makati:
Are you planing to buy one or rent? If renting, try to look at airbnb.com. I found a condo which I rented for 2 weeks in Makati. Most of the rentals are cheaper if you go month by month. I rented a condo right by Greenbelt 1 just 1 min walk, it was awesome had a great time. Had tight security 24/7, Cameras, laundry. Or try to look on News paper or ads there It might be more cheaper negotiation with the owner direct.
Philippines: Debit Card:
You should be able to use it. See locations of ATM's in PI with Pulse.
https://www.pulsenetwork.com/atm-locator/international.html
I opened a HSBC bank account, so I do transactions and withdrawls in the US as well as HSBC Philippines atm here in Makati and Greenhills without any international transaction fees.
Be careful withdrawing money on atm's if you have US bank, international translation fees are horrible plus they charge as well here in Philippines. It's a double charge. It can drain your funds.
Philippines: throw away ticket:
I don't really understand why a lot of expats buy a throw away ticket instead of a fully refundable ticket. To me if you have a credit card why not buy a fully refundable on Delta or JAL or any of the big airlines instead of the budget airlines, at least you get your money back in 3 -4 weeks. Yes! throw away tickets are cheaper $70-$120, but you lose your money and don't get your money back. You have to call the airline and make sure its a fully refundable ticket.
