Advice for New Expats

Take the cultural differences with a grain of salt and prepare yourself to be more flexible with your culinary desires. If you can't find what you like to eat--make it yourself! Most any ingredient can be located with a little groundwork. Good quality beef? that's tricky but the Australian import is pretty decent and available in many places. Also: Learn to cook fish!

Favorite Cuisine:

italian or French

Vietnam: Young British family opportunities?:

teaching English is the default profession Nick. You can get a Visa for several months after which you will need to leave VN long enough to renew it. From HCMC a short jaunt to Cambodia is the obvious choice and its pretty interesting too. Lots of people make a fresh start here. It's family oriented and pretty darn safe compared to many places. Good Luck!

Vietnam: meet for English conversation in Bien Hoa:

I enjoy living here in Bien Hoa very much and the only thing that might make it better would be to meet occasionally with other westerners for good old fashion conversation. I live in the Town center but travel around Dong Nai fairly often. if your interested just send me a shout.

Vietnam: sugarfree:

give some thought to buying a bread making machine as these also can produce really good jams and jellys. i use honey that comes from MeKong region--not hard to find and of the best quality.
