China: Which China Internships Are Scams - Which Are Real?:

I am about to graduate USC and I think my name is on some mailing list after I signed up to do some volunteer work with an NGO in China. No less than six China Internship companies have been calling me on Skype and emailing me wanting me to pay money to go intern in China! A guy from Gi2c in Beijing says this is normal. Is it? Please share your opinions soon as I want to come to China in June. Do I really have to pay $3,700 just to be an intern in China?
