Germany: currency exchange:
Hello, we are moving next week and have to exchange U.S. dollars to euros. When we look at the rate in the newspaper it's about $1.12 to get 1 euro but at the banks they give you a rate of $1.17 for 1 euro even if you have an account. Any one know how to get a better exchange rate???
Gratefully yours,
CS
Germany: Batteries?:
Are common household batteries ( AA, AAA. 9 volt transistor , C, D, etc.) used in Germany or are they different than here in the U.S.?
Germany: Moving to Frankfurt :):
Hello kate, Here are a few websites to get an idea of whats on the market. Ebay.de - immobilienscout24 - immowelt.de Make sure you understand all the charges not normally seen in the states. Ex.-Provision ( commission paid buy BUYER). Hausgeld ( common area fees ). Also understand what utilities, if any, are included in the rent and try to get the efficiency rating of the unit. The Leistungsfahigkeit is quite commonly posted. Also polish up on your German, as no matter how hard you try everyone will practice their english on you! Good luck .....
Germany: Tools????:
Getting ready to pack for the move. Question is, which part of my extensive (and heavy) tool collection to bring. -Ex. ANY SAE wrenches, ALL bit drivers?(square, hex, star etc,). Anything electrical ? As I am a Mechanic/Contractor/Handwerker, the thinking is to "only bring it if it's worth it ", because if it's as costly to ship as to replace, why bother? I will bring the basics as I will be looking at ANY work opportunity, but am wondering if anyone in "The Field " has any insight at all. Thank you for your time...M
Germany: temporary housing:
Hello, I am new to the site but am glad to be here. Planning the move to Baddenwurttemburg in 6 to 12 months. When we arrive we will need temporary housing, perhaps 2 or 3 months until we find a permanent residence. Any suggestions on a furnished monthly for a family of 4? Thank you in advance for any help at all........ M
