Some Forum Posts:

Panama: USA ATM's:

My wife and I I have travelled extensively around the world and have been to dozens of countries including Panama and have yet to find a place where we could not get cash out of an ATM. Just make sure your account is with a good size institution and that they are part of one of the global ATM systems. Yes fees and amounts you can get at any one time are variable but we have never had an issue

Panama: Drug costs:

Would love to see a roll call of common medicines, i.e. blood pressure, cholesterol etc and the local prices

Panama: Crime in Panama:

I might suggest to anyone when trying to put crime in perspective that you run a crime report on your favorite city in the US or even the one you live in now, you might be surprised!

Panama: Credit Unions 2:

Exactly, if something sounds to good to be true, well then most likely it is :-)

Panama: Leaving Forum:

BoqueteGirl is on pont and correct, as usual :-) I have found this site to be very helpful and the folks here very nice.

Panama: Dental Care:

Is this a porcelain crown? As an FYI - In Atlanta my Dentist charges $1,800 for just a crown, had one done in Thailand 2 years ago when we were living there, $300 and an amazing job

Panama: Expats Who Have Businesses:

I was wondering if any of you here on this site who are Friendly Nations expats have started a small business in Panama and what are your experiences?

Panama: Credit Unions:

All Expats are strangers in a strange land and should avoid literally 100% of the grabs for your money for deposit or investment unless the credibility of the institution is confirmed 100%. For expats putting your money in any bank other than the recognized major players, is not a wise choice. A fool and his/her money are quickly parted.

Panama: Temporary car:

Please be careful and check with both your CC company and your Insurance carrier in the US, they likely do not cover you out of the country. I speak from experience on this (in the states) the CC companies like AMEX, VISA etc that provide ins for rentals when their card is used are only covering the deductible of your personal insurance which is responsible for the rest.

Panama: retire to Panama:

The key is to not eat imported foods? Buying proteins and veggies all locally along with other staples is much cheaper in Panama than the US
